Hybrid sunscreen/foundation products have been around a little while, and as someone who likes a bit of make up love even on the beach, but is in desperate need of good sun protection too, I’ve tested a fair few. In all honesty I’d begun to think that they were all too sticky, too thick or simply never the right colour. Frustrating or Wot! Well, that was until I got my hands on the WotNot Naturals SPF 40 mineral makeup.

This multi-purpose hybrid works not only as your daily sun protection, but also as your BB cream, anti-aging serum, and mineral make-up too. *I know right! Four products, on your face in one slap! Back to school is fast approaching. Eeeek! How has that happened? It only feels like yesterday that term 4 ended and we were gearing up for Christmas and now we’re staring term one right in the eye! With the new school year looming, I’ve been listing all the things I need to organise and, just like every year, it’s a little overwhelming; especially as I have a tendency to leave everything to the last minute and my children seem to have grown about a meter since December!

Although I should be getting ready, buying school shoes and getting haircuts, I am not’, I’m organising and packing for our road trip to Kangaroo Island next week!! Same same but different. In fact, I think organising a family holiday is easier than organising all the school stuff!

The great thing about heading off on an trip this time of year is not just knowing that we are about to embark on an adventure together, but knowing the weather will be perfect and there is bound to be plenty of beautiful fresh produce to be snacked on all the way Adelaide! The truly wonderful thing about this story is that Beebee + Bongo and the Cambodia Knits Organization support parents locally in Cambodia by providing much sought after employment. Starting from January 1st 2021, Beebee + Bongo will become the primary purchaser of Cambodia Knits Organization products, all of which are eco-friendly, hand-made, and provide women with home-based employment that most importantly is fairly paid. 

“COVID-19 has wiped out 97% of tourism in Siem Reap, home to the World Heritage Angkor Wat Temples, and with it, tens of thousands of jobs. We decided to fight back—and fight harder than before—to ensure that we can keep these women employed, and employ even more.” Monika

The company estimates that for every $1300 in sales, CKO can employ another knitter. The Kickstarter campaign launched on November 24th will enable them to expand their product line and message to families around the world.

Book review- Love your Brain

With so much going on in our little people’s worlds at the moment, there was no better time for this fabulous little book to hit our mailbox. Emotions have been running away with us over the past 10 months, (thanks lockdown) and honestly, I’m not sure any of us really took enough time to sit down and talk about how or why we were really feeling the way we were feeling.

Love Your Brain, written by none other than Chaos to Calm legend Chrissie Davies, is a brightly coloured, fun and interactive book that takes the readers on a journey of discovery. Discovery of our emotions, the way our brain works, how we can look after our brains and what we can do when big feelings take over our bodies. *Not just for kids hey. We all need a read!

Love Your Brain is the perfect brain bible, fun fact checker and most importantly, go to guide for parents and children to turn to in order to understand their behaviour more positively, and discover how to become brain builders, together.

As a busy mama to an even busier 8 and 12 year old, we can easily forget to stop and be kind to ourselves. This is going to be an “always on the table” book in our house. One that we can dip in and out of whenever we need the reassurance, the guidance or the gentle reminder to feed our brains and give them a break every now and again.

Truthfully, if you asked me to describe my skin tone, Miss Piggy comes to mind! I’m pink! Not pretty pink, just piggy pink! You’ll often hear me describe myself as an English Rose as I cower in my tent on the beach so not a bit of sun can reach by body, but in all honesty, I just don’t like the pasty white, almost blue when I’m cold, or tomato red when I’m hot, and I go out of my way to cover it up with the old “faux glow” fake tans whenever possible.

So, little old me, writing about skincare, well isn’t that a turn up for the books.

Whilst I am now very “into” skincare, I haven’t always been so careful to use the best ingredients. I grew into my skin in the usual way! It will come as no surprise, we are quite frankly, sick to the back teeth of remote learning. Motivation has well and truly run for the hills, and this mama is about to follow!! I have been endlessly googling ways to get my littlest dude interested in something…anything!!

The characters are cute, the sound effects are fun, and it’s by far the greatest tool kit we have in our house to keep him entertained, engaged and even more crucially, learning.

If your kids would love to learn to code, I can’t think of a better way to teach them. The joy and excitement, along with the sense of achievement this coding kit brings to our house is wonderful. We have loved playing together as a family, taking turns, and also leaving Monty to navigate his own way through. It’s really no wonder Osmo have won so many awards!

Heya 👋 My name is Georgia and I’m the founder of How We Roll Co. I’m also a crazy dog person much like yourself and spending time with my two boys – Twister and Mac is my fave thing to do – when i’m not selling TP of course! I’m originally from Adelaide and have a background in ecommerce and fashion – so being in the TP game is a little how-we-roll-recycleddifferent for me but part of a bigger sustainable picture I have in the works.  How We Roll came about as the first of a few brands I plan on rolling (pun definitely intended) out over the next 18 months – each with a sustainable focus and charitable aspect. Although the launch of How We Roll may seem timely with toilet paper being the hottest product of 2020 it was well in the works before Covid hit and the team and I are in this for the long term – hoping to create small sustainable changes in everyday lives.

Does being in the toilet paper biz mean 2020 has been a good year for you?
Haha I mean as far as starting businesses go it wasn’t a bad product to be launching! We do like to think of How We Roll as a long term choice for people in making those small changes into their everyday lifestyle. Since launch we have also rolled out compostable bin liners and biodegradable ‘dogo bogo bags’ to make sure your furry friends are also covered!

We have recently rescued a beagle and I am head over heels. I have officially become one of those “dog people”. The fact that I can add eco friendly dog poop bags to my order got me over the line. Have your extras been popular?
Yes they have! Which has been great – we are even launching a cheeky new product in a few months which we are super excited about! I think people love the convenience of being able to purchase a few items from the one store – and having the option to receive these items on a monthly basis via subscription! This means people can spend less time at the supermarket trying to find eco alternatives and more time doing the things they love.

I love that HWR is super eco friendly and environmentally aware. Can you tell us a little bit about your partnership with One Tree Planted and why you chose them.
We wanted to partner with a charity that aligned with our brand – seeing people are saving trees not wiping with them when people use How We Roll it seemed like the perfect fit. Along side of this the fact we can plant trees in bushfire impact regions of Australia is amazing! HWR-colour0270
What is one thing that you have learnt since starting How We Roll?
That customers really do care about the impact on the environment in regards to what products they use. It’s great to have been able to chat to customers with the same passion as us!
What would be your one bit of business advice to someone out there with a fab idea?
Go for it! However also be realistic – business is super competitive these days – find your edge and stick to it and grow that. Make sure you do your research especially when it comes to eco friendly products as customers really do care and want to know
